About Us

CodeSprouts was founded to help equip and inspire tomorrow's generation so they can be successful in a world increasingly focused on and controlled by technology. The founder and lead instructor, Michael O'Connell, has been teaching students about coding and computational thinking for the past several years at multiple schools in the United States (as described in this newsletter article), and has led coding camps and lessons at other schools and libraries. He spent many years working with employers such as IBM helping people learn and use computer science and technology and coding-related tools and languages. At IBM he was the Founding Editor-in-Chief of IBM developerWorks, the award-winning Web site that served 4 million visitors per month. He also was the Founding Editor-in-Chief of JavaWorld, an online magazine for Java software developers.
